Jose you looked like you have a strong, compact build, with some good aerobic conditioning, as in you always seemed to be moving and on your toes. This was a very good part to your game, and I was impressed to see. At points in the game you could have been quicker to activate and help join the attack, for example please see timestamp 40 minutes 16 seconds where the ball was played out (rolled out) by the goalkeeper to the centre midfield who then passed it to the right midfield / wing position, a little bit quicker to join here may have helped. However, you were quick in your defensive duty and intercepted the ball well (see timestamp: 40 minutes 54 seconds). You seem like a very agile player with some good dynamic movement. Your body position could be better in some portions of the game, for instance defending as the ball got crossed in at timestamp: 45 minutes, 50 seconds (approximately 14 minutes and 50 seconds into the game), if you had used your body to get in the way of the attacking player you may have hindered him enough to stop the attacking header - on this occassion though he missed the target and so it did not really matter.

Summary and key points

  • Demonstrated strong, compact build and good aerobic conditioning, consistently staying active and alert throughout the game.
  • Was generally fast and agile defensively, successfully intercepting the ball (see 40:54), but could have joined attacks quicker (see 40:16) to support forward play.
  • Showed dynamic movement; body positioning when defending crosses could improve to hinder attackers more effectively (see 45:50).

Comments

Tactically I think you have a good awareness of position, you always turned your body inwards ready to receive the ball in the right back position when you goalkeeper wanted to distribute the ball. This was a very simple but yet very effective way to help your team tactically as you could be a potentially avenue of ball distribution. I would say that you may want to play mroe balls forward as a general rule, but I am not sure if you had coach instruction that stipulated that you were meant to keep the ball and play back. José exhibited a secure first touch and ability to use his weaker foot as shown at 55'30'', but in this Haka team he showed some signs of lack of confidence on the ball. In their first goal, after a great movement/overlap behind defenders. José demonstrated a sharp tactical mind and deep understanding of the game that consistently elevates your team’s play. At minute 44 minute, your intelligent positioning and spatial awareness created a key turnover — a moment that showcased your solid acceleration, anticipation, and ability to read the flow before others.. At 63 minutes, your focus and composure were evident; as you recognized your role as the last man and reacted with precision, ensuring the team’s defensive stability. Your body language and approach to wide play — whether closing down a winger, defending crosses, or covering switches — reflect a player who’s tactically switched on and fully committed to his team’s shape. However, to reach the next level, José you should look beyond your defensive reliability and sharpen his attacking instincts. At times, your positioning is too deep, reducing your ability to support in 2v1s or create overlapping runs. Reading the right moment to push higher and wider will unlock more dimensions to your game, transforming you from a solid full-back into a complete one.

Summary and key points

  • Excellent tactical awareness, focus, and anticipation under pressure.
  • Strong defensive positioning and intelligent reading of the game.
  • Needs to push higher in attacking phases to strengthen width and create overlap

Comments

Jose you are a technically sound and comptent professional which is definetly testament to your game and performance. You’ve shown solid technical foundations — your first touch is secure, and your ability to use your weaker foot, especially at 55'30", proves your all-round skill set. Yet, in this match with Haka, there were moments where your confidence on the ball seemed to drop. It wasn’t about lacking ability; it was about trusting yourself to take command in possession.  At 48'45", your overlapping run and decisive pass that led to the team’s goal highlighted what you’re capable of when you play with full belief. It was a glimpse of your potential to influence the game more consistently. To step up to the next level, you need to bring that same energy and intent into every phase of play. Modern full-backs aren’t just defenders — they’re creators who take initiative in tight spaces. Challenge yourself to take more touches, move the ball faster, and trust your technique under pressure. Focus on refining your first touch and dribbling to open up space for teammates. You have the technical ability; now it’s about unlocking your confidence and leaning into your instinct to express yourself on the ball.

Summary and key points

  • Strong technique but needs greater confidence and risk-taking in possession.
  • Quick, confident touches and dribbling will elevate your attacking impact.
  • Trust your skill and play with conviction to reach full potential

I think its clear you get on well with your peers and team which is great to see. You alway seem to have a positive and growth mindset when speaking with you. In this game you clearly de mostrated a high level of social strength and psychological awareness of others. Your assist on the first goal was a perfect reminder of your passion for the game and the strong connection you’ve built with your teammates, even when communication isn’t always easy. Moments like that show not only your quality but also your commitment to the team’s success. Your focus, composure, and teamwork stand out throughout the match. As a defender, you may not always be in the spotlight, but your consistent mentality and dedication form the foundation of the team’s stability. Even when the ball is far away, your movement and body positioning show great awareness and a professional attitude. Now, what will truly elevate your performance is confidence. When you play with self-belief — taking more touches, staying calm under pressure, and daring to try new things — your impact on the right wing will grow tremendously. You already have the experience and the maturity to compete at a higher level. It’s about trusting your ability to lead from your position and showing the full range of your skill set.

Summary and key points

  • Displays strong teamwork, composure, and focus under pressure.
  • Needs to show greater confidence on the ball to expand his influence.
  • Has the maturity and quality to thrive at a higher level.

  • You may need to work on some minor aspects of your confidence (consider meditation or visualisation exercises before a game)

Summary

You demonstrates a good aerobic base with solid foundations across other areas of fitness, showing great tactical awareness during games and a strong social and psychological mindset that enhances overall performance.. Jose you show a good overall ability but would benefit from refining a few areas. Improving acceleration and power through sprint and agility drills, please see some resources produced by Anthony Turner at Middlesex University on power and explosive movements. Additionally, increasing attacking involvement can be supported by reading up on some resoucres in the FA Boot Room attacking and counter-attacking sessions to improve timing and forward movement.  Finally, building pre-match confidence through short daily meditation or visualization exercises on Headspace or Train Daly can further strengthen focus and mindset which can help.

You are clearly a good player, and so it is difficult to assess you on one game alone and so I would be keen to watch you again in other games to get a full comprehensive understanding of your game and how you could improve.
